This morning I found myself emptied out from all the fury,* exhausted from the past week’s cruelty and sadness. And I found myself needing some spell casting and some rest and restoration. I’m very glad I discovered this perfect meditation and highly recommend it to help get your feet under you, your heart full, and seeing the light around you.

*There is something that feels extremely apt about “fury,” in all its senses:

  1. Intense, wild, often uncontrolled anger. This is stronger than “anger” and usually more outwardly expressed than “rage.” Rage can simmer, while fury tends to erupt.

  2. Violence or force in nature or events, as in “the fury of the storm” or “the fury of battle.”

  3. A person, usually a woman, who is fierce or violent. This sense is dated and has a pejorative, gendered edge.

  4. Fury / the Furies comes from Greek and Roman mythology. The Erinyes in Greek, the Furiae or Dirae in Latin, were female deities of vengeance, traditionally Alecto (“unceasing”), Megaera (“grudging”), and Tisiphone (“avenger of murder”). They punished crimes against the natural order, especially within families.

I think we’re living all four of these meanings right now.

And we do need a break.

I curated some more favorite ways to take a break at my Rest Here Now page.

Please help yourself.
