How to be resilient and nourished

This Humans of New York post has so much to learn from.
There's tremendous resilience after horrible trauma (so, trigger warning: sexual abuse, violence), and it comes from playing chess with strangers. The storyteller, Johnny, intuits what is so healthful about the chessplaying -- sitting with and looking at another person, laughing, playing, strategizing, being creative, being productive. These are the things that make our brains happy, that allow our vagus nerve to tell us we're safe and we can relax.
If you are struggling, add these into your life:
Connect with other safe humans
Create something
Learn something
Improve on something you already do
And get outside, be in nature
(trigger warning: sexual abuse, violence)
